One project, one illustrated article

The project's images, in the locked part that follows the preview

Open the article with the facade shot, the brief and the name of the practice: that is the preview everyone sees. Then come, for subscribers, the full feature, the interior views and the construction details, placed in the locked paragraphs. A photo gallery section cannot be locked: the article is what carries the project's images.

Plans, sections and technical sheets as PDFs

Attached to the article, invisible to anyone not subscribed

Add to the feature the plans and sections the practice sent you, or the materials' technical sheet, as an attached PDF. In a locked article, the file stays hidden from visitors without a subscription; your subscribers open it from the article, on their phone as on the web app.

The map of buildings, for visits

Every published project has its pin on the map

A Map section locates the buildings you write about: the student or enthusiast passing through a city sees what there is to discover nearby, then finds the matching feature. The map stays open to everyone and makes people want to read on.

AI working for the editorial team

Three concrete uses, and their cost.

The feature, prepared from Claude

Connect the app to Claude or ChatGPT with the MCP server: the assistant prepares the project article and schedules the announcement of its release; you proofread, you confirm, it publishes.

Readers question your archive

“Which timber-frame projects have you published?” The Chatbot searches your articles and can point back to the original feature; without a subscription, it only draws on the free articles.

A timeline of architectural styles

Describe the section you want, for instance a timeline from Romanesque to contemporary architecture with one building per period; the AI Extension Builder produces it as a new section of the app.

Ads from building product manufacturers

A second revenue stream, alongside subscribers

Makers of windows, concrete or lighting want to reach architects: offer them your placements through the app's internal ad server, as banners, the way a print review would. Subscription and advertising combine, much like in a newspaper's app.

The architecture review

The print issue carries on; the app publishes features as they come and keeps the archive for subscribers.

The independent critic

One guided building visit a week, for subscribers, announced by a notification on Monday morning.

The architecture practice

To show your own projects and receive appointment requests, the app for architects is a better fit.

Architecture magazine app: frequently asked questions

Can a photo gallery be locked for subscribers?

No, a gallery section cannot be locked. Publish each project as an article and slip its photos into the locked part that follows the preview: only subscribers see them.

Will my print subscribers get access to the app?

Not automatically: the app only knows subscriptions taken out in the stores. You can, however, open access by hand, one subscriber at a time, from the back office.

Is a single issue for sale?

No: single issues are not sold. The subscription opens the whole locked magazine, at the same level for everyone, and you can offer a monthly and a yearly plan.

Do the stores take a commission?

Yes: Apple and Google keep 15% for most publishers; Apple moves to 30% over the first year of each subscription for those not registered in its small business program. GoodBarber takes nothing.

Can my readers subscribe from the website?

The subscription is taken in the iOS and Android apps; the web app points visitors to the download. After subscribing, readers find their articles on the web app by logging in.

What conditions apply before selling subscriptions?

Around ten locked items at least, the web app switched on under a domain name that belongs to you, then the green light from Apple and Google; locked articles then become readable for subscribers.
