One route, one trail note

Everything a hiker checks before lacing up

The Cirque loop: 14 km, 780 m of climb, five hours, yellow waymarks then red. The note describes each junction with a photo, the spring where hikers refill their bottles after the second hour, the exposed section to avoid under a storm warning and the parking area at the trailhead.

A few routes free, the full guide for subscribers

You choose, route by route, what stays open

Leave the three family walks near town open to everyone: they show the quality of your notes. The rest of the guide, the ridges, the long crossings, the lesser-known valleys, opens with a subscription taken in the app, monthly or yearly. On a reserved note, you decide how many paragraphs a hiker reads before being asked to subscribe.

The route on the map

Trailhead, junctions, huts and viewpoints as points

Each route has its points on the map: the trailhead parking, the key junctions, the mountain hut, the viewpoint that makes the climb worth it. Hikers spot the routes that start near where they are staying and open the drive to the trailhead in their maps app.

In every trail note

Distance and climb

Kilometers, meters up and down, estimated time.

Difficulty

Your grading, explained once for the whole guide.

Water and shelter

Springs, huts, the last place to refill.

Access

Parking, the bus to the trailhead, the road closed in winter.

Variants

The shortcut when the weather turns, the extension for strong legs.

Season and hazards

When to go, what to watch for, who should skip it.

Trail conditions, when they change

A push for snow, a fallen footbridge or a closed path

“Snow above 1,800 m: the Col route needs crampons until further notice.” Publish the update as an article with an end date, so it disappears once conditions pass, and send a push to your subscribers or to everyone. Hikers read it the evening before, not at the foot of the pass.

The guidebook publisher

Its printed guides become one app per region, with routes updated after each season.

The hiking blogger

Popular routes stay free on the blog and in the app; the detailed notes go to subscribers.

The mountain leader who guides groups

To have clients book guided outings, the hiking guide app with booking is a better fit.
The app for hiking guides

How much does a hiking trails app cost?

Premium · apps for hikers' phones, plus the web55€ /month, billed yearly

Apple and Google take their share of each subscription, usually 15%; GoodBarber takes nothing. Developer accounts are paid to the stores.

Hiking trails app: guidebook authors' questions

Can hikers read the notes without a network?

Notes they have already opened with a connection stay readable. To make the whole guide available offline, ask GoodBarber support, which can set it up for your app.

Does the app record the hike or follow the hiker?

No: it records no track and follows nobody. The map shows the fixed points of each route, and the drive to the trailhead opens in the phone's maps app.

Can one subscription cover several regions?

There is a single level of access: a subscriber opens every reserved note. You can't sell one region separately; publish one app per region if you need separate prices.

How is this different from an app for booking guided hikes?

Here, hikers walk on their own with your notes. If you guide groups and want clients to book outings, the hiking guide app with booking is the one to look at.

How many routes do I need before opening subscriptions?

Ten reserved notes at least. Most guides start with a whole region and add routes each season.

How much does a hiking trails app cost?

Premium with Memberships, or Pro alone. The stores take their share of each subscription, and the developer accounts are paid to them.
