Your missions on the calendar and on the map

Each mission has its date, its place and its route

Publish each mission as an event in the Calendar: Saturday's food drive, the Thursday night outreach round, the stand at the community fair. Date, times, address, description and photo: volunteers know what is expected of them and open the route in their phone's maps app. A Map section gathers every mission location on one map. Past missions disappear from the app on their own, and a mission prepared in advance goes live at the time you choose.

Signing up takes a few taps

Volunteers pick their mission and their shifts in a form

In each mission's page, a link opens the sign-up form. You choose the fields: the mission from a list, shifts as checkboxes, phone number, a word about their skills. Each sign-up reaches you by email, stays available in the back office and can be exported as CSV. The form does not count places: when a mission is full, you update its page or remove it from the Calendar.

A bookable welcome meeting

New volunteers book their first meeting, on a slot that is actually free

With Appointment booking, candidates pick a slot for their welcome meeting in the volunteer coordinator's calendar, synced with Google Calendar both ways. You set the hours, the closure days and the length of the meeting. Each slot takes a single booking, and each booking triggers a confirmation email.

Volunteers notified at the right time

One push to announce the mission, another on the day

When a mission needs hands, send a push from the back office, right away or on the date you choose: volunteers open it and land in the Calendar. With Automatic push set on the Calendar, a notification also goes out on the day each mission starts. Your volunteers no longer have to watch a chat thread to know where they are needed.

Setting up your nonprofit's app: what you configure, in practice

Three settings in the back office so that a published mission finds its volunteers.
  1. Your missions in the Calendar

Create one event per mission: title, date and times, address, what needs doing, photo. In the description, an internal link leads to the sign-up form. Add the mission locations to a Map section.
  2. The sign-up form

Choose the fields: the mission in a dropdown list, shifts as checkboxes, phone number, a free text field. Enter the email address that receives each sign-up.
  3. The welcome meeting

Connect Appointment booking to the volunteer coordinator's Google Calendar, then set their hours, the length of the meeting and the closure days.

Also in your app

A donate button

A shortcut in the menu, the header or the home page opens your donation page, on your website or your fundraising platform, in the phone's browser.

A volunteer hours log

Describe it to the AI Extension Builder: each volunteer records their missions and hours, stored on their phone. It's free.

Guidelines for each mission

What to wear, where to meet, who to call on site: publish them in the mission's page and update them until the last minute.

A reminder the day before

Schedule a push to recall the time and place: neither the form nor Appointment booking sends a reminder the day before.

Missions in the phone's calendar

From the mission's page, volunteers add it to their phone's calendar in one tap.

Everything else your nonprofit does

News, member profiles, groups, chat: what keeps your nonprofit alive beyond missions. The nonprofit app

AI in your nonprofit's app

Three concrete uses, with their price.
To answer

An assistant that answers volunteers' questions

“What should I bring for an outreach round?” The Chatbot searches the articles and content published in your app, then answers in the language of the question. It relies on what you have published: your guidelines remain the reference.

To extend

A volunteer hours log

Describe the section you want in the back office, for example “a log where each volunteer records the date, the mission and the duration, with the total for the year”, and the AI Extension Builder generates it in your app, in your design. The hours stay stored on the volunteer's phone.
Free
To operate

A mission published from Claude or ChatGPT

The MCP server connects your app to the AI assistant you already use: you ask it to add Saturday's food drive to the Calendar, you confirm, it runs on your app.

The food bank and its food drives

Each supermarket food drive is a mission in the Calendar, placed on the map. Volunteers tick their shifts in the form, and a push the day before reminds them of the meeting time.

The festival recruiting its volunteers

The form collects the roles each person wants, welcome desk, bar or parking, and their availability. Each candidate then books a welcome meeting.

The neighborhood association and its outreach rounds

The Thursday night rounds are published in the Calendar, and the hours log helps each volunteer keep track of their commitment over the year.

Three situations where a volunteer app makes the difference

What about yours? Create the app, publish your first missions and test your setup for 30 days, no credit card required.

How much does a volunteer app for a nonprofit cost?

A native iOS and Android app starts with the Premium plan; the Calendar, Map, Form and AI Extension Builder are free. Appointment booking is added to Premium, and the Pro plan includes it. Hosting, notifications and updates are included.
Premium · iOS, Android and web app55€ /month, billed yearly
Appointment booking, with Premium15€ /month

Volunteer app builder: frequently asked questions

Which app builder should a nonprofit choose for its volunteers?

One that publishes native iOS and Android apps and puts the mission calendar, sign-ups and notifications in the same subscription, with no third-party service to add. GoodBarber has done this without code since 2011. An hours log or another custom tool is created by simply asking the AI Extension Builder. On the other hand, the app is not nonprofit management software: no membership dues, no accounting, no tax receipts.

How does a volunteer sign up for a mission in the app?

From the mission's page, a link opens the sign-up form: they pick the mission, tick their shifts and send. You receive an email for each sign-up, and all replies stay in the back office, ready to export as CSV. No code is needed.

Can I limit the number of volunteers per mission?

No: the form does not count places and has no waiting list. When a mission is full, update its page or remove it from the Calendar. If you already schedule your shifts in another tool, the mission's page can link to it.

Can the app collect donations?

GoodBarber does not take donations in the app. A button in the menu, the header or the home page opens your donation page in the phone's browser. That is also what the App Store rules ask for: only nonprofits approved by Apple can collect donations inside their app, with Apple Pay.

How much does a volunteer app for a nonprofit cost?

A native iOS and Android app starts with the Premium plan, plus Appointment booking; the Pro plan includes it. The Standard plan, limited to the web app, does not offer Appointment booking. The Calendar, Map, Form and AI Extension Builder are free. A nonprofit that sells nothing in its apps can ask Apple to waive its developer account fee.

Do volunteers get a reminder before their mission?

Set on the Calendar, Automatic push sends a notification on the day each mission starts, to everyone who accepted notifications. Nothing goes out the day before, and nothing is tied to a specific sign-up: the form shows a confirmation message in the app and alerts your nonprofit by email. For a reminder the day before, schedule a push from the back office.

How do volunteers keep track of their hours?

With an hours log created by the AI Extension Builder, for free: describe it in the back office, and each volunteer records their missions and hours in it. The hours stay stored on their phone: your nonprofit does not see them, and for a certificate, the volunteer sends you their summary.

Where is volunteer data hosted?

On servers located in Europe. The app's Privacy Center also handles consent, the permissions requested on the phone and the terms and conditions.

Do volunteers need an app or a WhatsApp group?

The two work together. The group is for quick exchanges. The app keeps upcoming missions, sign-ups and guidelines in one place, where a chat thread scrolls them away. For your nonprofit's wider communication, news, member profiles and chat, see the nonprofit app.
