Create a pet sitting app
Pet sitter app: stay requests, a booked meet-and-greet and a care sheet for every pet
Before a trip, owners send you their dates in a few taps, book the visit where you get to know their dog or cat, and put in writing everything you need to know to look after their pet.
Give your pet sitting business its own app, built without code, for iOS and Android and as a web version: a stay request form, a section for booking the meet-and-greet, a care sheet for each pet with a photo of its vaccination record, and notifications to announce when you're fully booked.

The care sheet owners fill in before they leave
The vet and someone to call
The clinic that looks after the pet, with its number, and a person you can reach while the owner is on a plane or out of range.
Meals, measured and on schedule
Dry or wet food, the exact amount, the morning and evening times, the treats that are fine and the ones never to give.
Current medications
The pill to hide in a ball of wet food, the flea and tick treatment due during the stay: the name, the dose and the day.
Habits and fears
The dog who shakes during thunderstorms, the cat who bolts under the bed as soon as the vacuum starts, the one who can't stand other males: enough to avoid a bad surprise on the first night.
Keys and access
Who has a spare set, the mail to bring in, the window the cat knows how to open; alarm codes are best given in person, at the meet-and-greet.
The vaccination record, as a photo
A file field takes a phone photo of the vaccine pages; the native iOS app won't take PDFs, but a photo works everywhere.
Every step of a pet sit, and where it happens
What gets planned in writing goes through the app; what happens during the stay stays between you and the owner, by phone or in person.
| In your app | In your messages or in person | |
|---|---|---|
| Meet-and-greet before a first stay | booked in the app | the visit itself, at the owner's home |
| Stay request: drop-off and pickup dates, pets | Form | your reply, by email or phone |
| Care sheet and vaccination photo | Form, file field | |
| Updates and photos during the stay | No: no message to a single owner | your usual messaging app |
| Handing over the keys | No | in person, hand to hand |
| Paying for the stay | No: the app doesn't take payments | your usual payment methods |
The meet-and-greet is booked in the app
45 minutes at the owner's home, in the evening, before any first stay
Before trusting you with their dog or cat, owners want to see you with their pet, in their own home. Create a "Meet-and-greet" booking section with 45-minute slots, open on weekdays from 6 to 8:15 p.m., once owners are back from work: three visits an evening. The booking form asks for the species, the number of pets and the dates they have in mind, so when you ring the bell you already know whether it's two cats for ten days in August or a puppy for a weekend. Once a slot is taken, nobody else is offered it, and both you and the owner get a confirmation email. On a night you're staying over at another client's home, one event in your Google Calendar closes that evening's slots.

Pet sitting app: questions from pet sitters
Can owners book their vacation dates directly in the app?
No: a pet sit is counted in days or nights, while Appointment booking divides a single day into time slots, one owner per slot. So owners send you a request through the Form: drop-off and pickup dates, pets, care at your place or drop-in visits at theirs. You check your availability, then reply by email or phone. Only the meet-and-greet is booked directly.
How do I announce that August is fully booked?
Post a news item, "August is full, a few dates left in September", then a push notification to everyone who uses the app, sent right away or scheduled. July, August and the year-end holidays fill up weeks ahead: saying so as soon as the last date goes spares you requests you'd have to turn down. In spring, another push can invite your clients to send their summer requests early.
I mostly care for cats in their own homes: does the app work for drop-in visits?
Yes. The cat stays home and you stop by once or twice a day: food, litter box, fresh water and some playtime. In the request form, the owner checks "drop-in visits" and gives the number of cats; how often you come is then agreed with them, outside the app. The care sheet says where the litter box, the food and the cat's favorite hiding spots are.
Can I ask for a photo of the vaccination record?
Yes, in the care sheet: a file field in the Form takes a photo of the vaccine pages, and you can make it required. On the native iOS app, that field doesn't accept PDFs; a photo taken with the phone works everywhere. An email flags each care sheet sent, and the sheet stays in the back office, where you can export it as CSV. The vaccines you require are part of your own terms, which the app can display.
Can I send updates to just one owner from the app?
No. A push notification goes to all app users, to a geographic area or to a group, never to one specific person. So the photo of the dog asleep in its bed or the video of the cat at its bowl still goes through your usual messaging app. The app carries the news that concerns everyone: a full period, dates that open up, your own time off.
Does the app take a deposit when owners book?
No. Neither the meet-and-greet nor the stay is paid in the app, and no deposit is charged there. If you ask for one to hold July dates, put it in your terms, published in the app, and collect it the way you do today. A required checkbox, "I have read the pet sitting terms", can close the request form.
I also care for rabbits and birds: can the request form handle that?
Yes, since you build the request form yourself: a drop-down list for the species (dog, cat, rabbit, bird), another for the number of pets, checkboxes for a cage to clean or an aviary to close at night. The care sheet can ask for whatever changes from one species to the next: hay and pellets for a rabbit, the room temperature for a bird.
Extension Store
Six extensions for a pet sitting business. The Form, which is free, takes stay requests and care sheets. Appointment booking is only used for the meet-and-greet: it's a paid add-on with Premium and part of Pro. CMS Articles, Push notifications, CMS Contact and CMS Map do the rest, down to the address where owners drop off their pet for a stay at your place.
Before the owner leaves, everything is in writing
With GoodBarber, your pet sitting business gets its own app on iOS, Android and the web. Owners leave knowing who is looking after their pet and what you know about it; the stay, the updates and the payment remain between the two of you.
